In 2020, the price of a bitcoin will exceed $1 trillion, according to a report from financial market research firm Morningstar.
That’s up from the roughly $650bn total value of all digital currencies in the world, and would mark the biggest leap in value in history.
The report says that, by the end of 2020, bitcoin will be worth around $7.5tn, and could hit $100tn by 2025.
The digital currency is currently valued at around $5,000.
The number of bitcoin trading pairs has risen to nearly 1 billion.
The value of digital currencies is expected to grow by more than 200% by the year 2020.
The US has been the world’s largest bitcoin market for years, with more than $1bn traded in March.
The UK has also seen a huge spike in bitcoin trading in recent months, and many believe that Brexit could further boost the digital currency’s fortunes.
